Farnborough: Airasia buys 100 firms A321neo with 100 options.

Airasia signed a firm orders of 100 A321neo with 100 options. The firm purchase are worth 11.3 billions euro or 12.5 billions USD. The deal was inked by Mr. Tony Fernandes himself, with Airbus CEO Mr. Fabrice Brégier during the airshow.

This is the first time which Airasia decided to purchase the A321neo as its gives more seat per kilometer compare to the A320neo. The A321neo could fill up with 240 seat in a high density single class layout, while the A320neo could only take 184 as maximum. The NEO also enable the A321 to fly longer route and a 20% fuelsave per seat. This leading to lower operating costs,lower fuel consumption, while significantly increase the seat capacity.

No engine selection has been given for the A321neo, but we predict Airasia would perfer CFM leap as the engine of choice. The total orders rise to 575 aircraft while 170 have been delivered to and spread to Airasia and it’s affiliates. A number of 405 aircrafts are awaiting deliveries from the Airbus.

We predict that these A321neo would be use as replacement of the older a320ceo currently operating by Malaysia Airsia and some HIGH DEMAND route. The A321neo will also deploy to those airport with limited facilities,therefore, it could brings more passengers in a single given flight. While the other A320neo will deliver to Airasia Thailand, Philippine, Indonesia, India and Airasia Japan(airasia japan is in its startup stage.)

“The A321neo will help us to meet ongoing strong demand as well as further reduce our cost per available seat kilometre across the group, which will translate to lower air fares for our guests,” Fernandes said.

“We would like to congratulate Airbus for producing the state-of-the-art A321neo aircraft that meets our requirements for efficient operations.” Added by Fernandes.

Somewhat, somehow, the double digits growth was already ended. We should expect a phrase a consolidate. Although, Malaysia Airasia and Thai Airasia are rejoice with high profit, its affiliate in Indonesia, Philippine, and India are suffering losses. And a new startup Airasia Japan which require a lot of funds pump into the company.

Yet, the Asean region is facing Over-order and Over-capacity problems.Aircraft deferral is also a common practice in our region. Particularly Airasia and Lion Group, each of it have a order backlog of more than hundreds. This result a hidden danger, if a sudden economic crisis happens or a disease appear in nowhere,a great empire would collapse within a blink of an eye.
