BREAKING: RMAF Jet trainer crashed !!

Pekan: A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) crashed in a paddy field which located at Kampung Serun near Nenasi, Pekan, Pahang this afternoon.

The aircraft ( Aermacchi MB-339CM ) is an advanced training jet used for transition to a ‘real’ fighter jet with state-of-the-art technology.

The flight had encountered a technical failure (engine failure) during the training on this fateful afternoon around 12.50pm.

The instructor and the trainee ejected to safety before the crash using the jump seat system. They are reportedly safe, however, one of them suffered a  broken leg.

RMAF, in a brief statement, said the aircraft, based in the Kuantan airbase, had experienced technical difficulties mid-flight at 12.54pm.

An investigation will be form to determine the cause of the incident.

RMAF currently operates 10 MB-339AM and 8 MB-339CM. The aircraft have a maximum takeoff weight of 5,897 kg (13,000 lb) and produce 4,000 lbf (17.8 kN) with a Rolls-Royce Viper Mk. 632 turbojet powerplant.
